Modern day fundamentalism

English elite reduce the 'Scientific temperament' as snobbery and as a antithesis to Religion. Religion is always seen as superstitious and contaminating. Science is almost seen like a vaccine which one injects into a people to grant them immunity against superstition. There is an illiteracy to science here. It never understood the creativity of the scientist, Jagadish Chandra Bose, who borrowed ideas from the Shakta tradition or Ramanujan, who claimed that the Goddess of Namakkal came to him in a dream and rolled out her tongue and on it was written a theorem. How Shankaracharya's philosophy of advaitism inspired Einstein to propound the mass energy relationship.
Our cultural practices are deal with condescending attitude. 'Dehati' is synomomous with backwardness. Mission of our intellectual is to modernise india. Unfortunately in the name of modernism we homogenized our people.
Think of diversity. The 50,000 varieties of rice cannot be preserved merely by in situ scientific techniques. Mere science cannot save them but a science combined with myth, song, religion, festival, language can protect our diversity. Even our constitution recognise few languages.... our dialects are orphan.....
